Lengthy overview of blog software

My review of several popular blog software packages was published on the Online Journalism Review site yesterday. The best thing about it—I think—is the comparison chart, which allows you to look at common blog features and compare them across several blogging tools. It’s doomed to be out of date almost immediately, so be sure to check it out soon!

OJR: Time to check: Are you using the right blogging tool?

  2. Susannah Gardner, author of Buzz Marketing with Blogs for Dummies, has written a great article comparing blog tools. There's even one heck of chart comparing the features of the various blog solutions. If you are a lawyer or law firm…

  3. Blogging software platforms.

Which blogging tool to choose is a dilemma faced my many new bloggers. There are so many good options, with varying levels of services and features, that the novice blogger is often at a loss about what to choose.

  5. Nice work on the chart! There’s a few minor points I’d quibble with on the comparison for various Six Apart tools, but I’m not sure if you’re soliciting feedback or updates on it.

Either way, it’s a lot of work, and a great resource for people to refer to, so congratulations on publishing it.

  6. Great chart.
I use wordpress and I think that may be more themes for WP but this things are so dinamic that it is almost impossible to keep track.

I just bought your book and I’m enjoying it but I think that you should give more space to fake blogs. There are lots of them in the blogosphere and fake blogs might be an interesting topic do discuss because of the ethics issues involved.

  7. Disclaimer: I manage a blogging platform that you did not cover. Naturally, I understand that it is virtually impossible to be exhaustive, so this is more of an observation than a criticism.

Having said that, allow me to introduce Mo’time, a free hosted blogging community that compares very favorably to the others in every way. I encourage you, and readers of this blog, to take a look at www.motime.com. We merrily host refugees from other platforms, as witnessed by this typical post written just yesterday.

I then worked on trying to get the program to deal with…
