I’m Too Sexy for My Blog

imageOK, I’m not really too sexy for my blog, but that was the name of the talk I gave at Northern Voice on February 11th. My talk was about blog design, with a bit of a focus on what you can do without being a professional web designer yourself. I promised to post my slides, so here they are!

And, here are the URLs of the blogs I shows as examples during the talk:

And, finally, courtesty of Bruce Sharp, here’s a link to the audio (which is even edited!). Thanks, Bruce, and everyone at Northern Voice for the opportunity.

UPDATE: Ha, ha, it helps if you actually put in the link to the slides when you say you’re going to!

  1. “I’m Too Sexy for My Blog”—That’s just too funny! ROFLMAO!

Susannah, thanks for the book. When does buzz marketing II come out that really focuses on the MISSED OPPORTUNITIES if you don’t have a BizBlog?

    More like,

“Forget whatever you have been taught in Marketing Class with PUSH advertising—NOW, refill that void in your HEAD with PULL advertising.

What if you could have a 1,000 points of lights shining on you—instead of you searching with a flashlight for each of them, one by one?”

    This is just too fun!

    Cheers!

  2. I have a question for you regarding the approach to blog design. I am a designer of both print and web. My company, (http://www.formcreative.com)has a fully developed and designed Web site. I have recently begun blogging and have purposefully chosen NOT to design my blog site to retain an objective and somewhat editorial feel. My approach was to use content to attract like minded individuals some of whom may be potential clients thus using the blog to pull them through to my brand.

My question is this: Are there times when branding and designing a blog dilutes the credibility of the content? Are there purposes for which branded design are not applicable?
