Buzz Marketing Is..

Buzz Marketing is about creating conversations, and blogs are by their nature a conversation. Viral marketing is about getting people to help you pass your message along.

Examples of viral marketing:

  • The Bacardi site, Planet Party, there’s a video clip created that peope passed around
  •   Hotmail, which attaches a message to the bottom of each free email sent by users, that advertises the Hotmail service.
  • Can blogs be used for buzz and viral marketing?
One example: PR firm Marqui generated a huge wave of discussion by hiring some bloggers to post about Marqui

Why are blogs good at this type of marketing?

  • Blog activity is measurable and quantifiable
  • It encourages conversation
  • Blogs gather feedback very efficiently
  • Blog postings can be spread quickly
  • Blogs are search engine magnets—“Google Loves Blogs.”
  • Blogs are a grass-roots medium
  • Blogs have a personal feel
  • Authenticity and genuine sentiments are key.
  • I’m cross-posting this on three sites: Buzz Marketing with Blogs, Radiant Marketing Group, and BlogAsia.  If you’d like to comment, please come to BlogAsia to do so.
