At a dinner tonight arranged by The Bryght Guys, Winer met fans and tech folks. Winer is the blogger behind Scripting News and the founder and CEO of UserLand. Winer figures prominently in the blogging world, and can count himself as one of those often referred to in the press as the “blogfather.”
Here’s a question for you: who is the blogfather?
Thanks, Bryght.
Apparently you can “learn how to make blogs work for your business” at the Blog Business Summit being held in Seattle, January 24-25. There will be sessions on legal strategies, building traffic, marketing strategies, writing for blogs, good blog design and blog business models, among others. For bloggers, there’s an interesting pricing model and a significant price break. For others, early bird pricing is available through December 1, and afterwards you’ll pay $795 to get in the door.

DefenseTech.org, a blog that covers the intersection of technology and the military, was acquired by Military.com last week. Wired, for one, speculates that this may be the first of many sales of blogs in the months to come. Blogs have become increasingly popular as valid sources of news and opinion and the resulting audience numbers are attractive, to say the least.
My source: I read about this first on Easy Bake Weblogs.
Martin Fink, Hewlett Packard’s Linux Vice-President, has jumped into the blogosphere with a new blog: Martin’s Linux and Open Source Blog for IT Executives. His first post focuses on Sun’s release of Solaris 10 on x86 (yeah, your guess is as good as mine), and clearly indicates this will be an information-rich resource for readers. HP has other blogs, but this one is significant because of its author, and its target audience.
Visit www.linuxcio.com to check out his blog.

You know it’s gone mainstream when it hits the Sunday funny pages! Check out the 11/14 Dilbert strip for a corporate view of camera phones.
If you’re reading this post, it’s 99% likely that you typed in the wrong URL. Or, there’s the slimmest of chances that the thing you’re looking for was renamed, i.e. moved somewhere else.
Either way, I’m really sorry, and I suggest you use the search box on the right—no, not the left, the right—to type in a word or two about what you’re seeking.
